To find out more about Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 and the spotlights, please see the introductory article.
Next up in our Spotlight feature is Denim, which plays Edinburgh Festival from 3 – 27 August 2017. I caught up with the cast:
Describe your show in three words.
Epic. Intimate. Paradoxical.
Is this your first Edinburgh Fringe performance experience?
It’s out first Fringe performance full stop. We’re used to doing arena tours and stadiums, so we cannot wait to bring things into an intimate space and to connect directly with our fans.
Who else are you most looking forward to seeing while at the Fringe?
The loyal fans, who are rumoured to already be camped outside the Underbelly in their tents.
How do you feel to be performing at Underbelly Cowgate?
We’re just anxious that it can accommodate our stage lifts, giraffes, pyrotechnics and tour sets.
Who or what are your inspirations?
We live for the secret champions of life. The people who trip over on the escalator and step back up again. And the queens are always pushing each other one. We inspire each other to be the better queens we know we can be.
What is your secret to surviving the intense, fast pace of the fringe?
What are the future plans for your show?
****rumour has it we’re in the mix for the Super Bowl halftime show in 2018****
What is the best production you have seen this year – can be any genre, style, in any theatre or performance space?
Is there anything else you want to highlight about your show/ theatre company/ production?
Live, high quality singing from start to end. No lipsyncing in Denim.
