Told as a series of memories and flashbacks and featuring live performances of some of Dolly Parton’s greatest hits, The Poetry We Make explores love, loss and what gender actually counts for.
Who do we fall in love with: a body, a soul, a gender? What happens when the person you love announces their gender transition?
When Elliott discovers her ex-boyfriend Robin has started to transition into a woman, her world turns upside down. With the help of her hero and spirit guide Dolly Parton, Elliott examines her memories of the man she loved – re-imagining what it means to be a woman, and what it means to be in love. No love story is ordinary, this one especially.
Developed by RADA graduates, writer Jaswinder Blackwell-Pal and director Edwina Strobl, this fresh new work brings together an extraordinary cast of performers and musicians including Elena Voce, Mia Hall and transgender performer Elijah W. Harris.
The Poetry We Make plays a number of venues from 20 June – 12 July 2017. For more information or to book tickets, please visit the website.
